Snakes and snails and polliwog tails

While her princess side is very much alive and well, Clara retains a healthy interest in nature and critters. A couple of weeks ago we had a massive bug day. Her preschool class enjoyed an activity called Maggot Art (which is basically maggots rolling around in paint--click on the link). We went straight from that with our friend Jeroen to an afterschool outing with Ranger Linda at Tilden Park. This month's theme was insects, and the kids were all equipped with butterfly nets and fish nets. We got close up and personal with bees, dragonflies, spiders, water skeeters, and more. Very cool. We are also enjoying the variety of winged things flying around our garden. The bee populations may be in decline, but we like to think we're doing our tiny part to keep the pollinators happy...
